Coverage and cost


To be eligible, your patient must be diagnosed with:
  • Chronic atrial fibrillation
  • Mechanical heart valve
  • Venous thromboembolism (VTE) including,
    - Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
    - Pulmonary embolism (PE)
And meet the following criteria:
  • Taking Coumadin® or other oral anticoagulation for at least 3-months and on a daily basis.
  • Be able to demonstrate the correct use of the device after training.


The cost for PT/INR Self Testing will vary depending on your Patient's insurance coverage. Our insurance professionals will check eligibility with their insurance carriers and provide you and your patient with a summary of covered services and out-of-pocket expenses.

Medicare recently expanded coverage for PT/INR Self Testing for patients with Atrial Fibrillation, Mechanical Heart Valves, and Deep Vein Thrombosis. If your patient meets one of the above criteria, Medicare will cover most of the cost of PT/INR Self Testing.

Secondary Insurance
Additionally, we will work closely with the pateint's secondary private insurer to attempt to reduce or eliminate any additional out-of-pocket expenses.

Private Insurance
Many private insurers cover service for PT/INR Self Testing. Our knowledgeable insurance experts will work directly with the insurance company to determine patient eligibility.

Self Pay
We offer a self pay option to qualified patients.
